Privacy policy

TempoWx is a weather briefing app for pilots. It keeps only what it needs to brief and alert you, and you can delete all of it from the app at any time.

What TempoWx keeps on your account

Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code, or with Apple or Google if you choose. They share only your email address (or Apple’s private relay address, if you hide yours), your name if you allow it, and an account identifier. TempoWx never sees your Apple or Google password.

What you set up in the app: your home airport, saved airports, personal minimums, quiet hours, alert settings, saved aircraft, and the flights you plan or watch, with the alerts raised for them.

Your device's time zone, so alerts and summaries use your local time.

A push notification token for each device where you allow notifications, so alerts can reach it.

Briefings you choose to share: a frozen copy, readable by anyone with the link until it expires after 24 hours or you stop it.

If you subscribe to TempoWx Pro: your subscription status (plan, renewal and expiry dates). Payment details stay with Apple or Google; TempoWx never sees them.

Your location

Only when you choose "Use my location" on the Airports tab or "Use where I am" during setup, and only while the app is open, TempoWx reads where your device is to list the airports nearest you or fill in your home airport. You can say no, or turn it off later in your device’s or browser’s settings; Nearby then measures from your home airport, and setup leaves the field for you to type.

The position is rounded on your device to about 1 km and sent with that one request to find nearby airports. TempoWx never stores or logs it, and never reads it in the background.

What TempoWx does not collect

No advertising or tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. Usage analytics are off unless you turn them on (below).

No contacts, photos, or files.

Crash reports

When the app or the server hits an error, a crash report goes to Sentry: what failed and where in the code, the app version, and your device model and operating system. Reports never include your email, sign-in codes, flights or location, and they are not linked to your account.

Usage analytics (off unless you turn them on)

If you turn on Share usage analytics in Settings, the app sends Aptabase which screens you open (by name, such as Alerts or a flight's watch screen, never which airport or flight), what you do with alerts (opened, marked reviewed, a type muted or unmuted), and whether you finished or skipped setup and whether you set a home airport and an aircraft there (yes or no, never which), with the app version, operating system and language. Nothing identifies you or your device: no account id, device id or advertising id, and events are grouped only into a session that ends after an hour of inactivity. Turn it off in Settings at any time and nothing more is sent.

Who handles the data

Vercel hosts the app and API; Neon hosts the database; Resend sends the sign-in emails; Expo, Apple, and Google deliver push notifications; RevenueCat records TempoWx Pro purchases from the App Store and Google Play, keyed to your account id. Sentry receives crash reports. Aptabase receives usage analytics, only if you turn them on. Apple and Google confirm who you are when you sign in with them. Each processes data only to provide that service.

Weather comes from aviationweather.gov (NOAA). Terrain heights along a planned route come from Open-Meteo and the USGS. These requests carry airport identifiers and route coordinates, never your name or email.

On your device

The app keeps the weather and briefs it last loaded on your device so they are available offline. Signing out or deleting your account clears them.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile → Delete account. You confirm by typing DELETE, and your account and everything in it are deleted at once: settings, aircraft, flights, alerts, push registrations, and share links.

If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account also removes TempoWx from your Apple ID’s “Sign in with Apple” list.

If you can't sign in, email support@tempowx.app from your account's address and we will delete it within 30 days.

Not a flight authorization

TempoWx is not an FAA briefing substitute, a dispatch release, or a flight authorization tool. Get an official briefing before flight.
